  Articular cartilage bioreactoris a device for culturing and maintaining human articular chondrocytes and can be used to study cartilage biology and explore treatments. It generally consists of multiple layers of components, including a cell culture chamber, fluid circulation system, pressure sensor, and temperature controller. Its basic principle is to culture articular cartilage tissue on a permeable, porous, elastic artificial matrix and promote its growth and development through simulated physiological stimuli such as joint movement, pressure, and fluid shear.   1. Bioreactor body: the core component, generally made of stainless steel, glass, or another material with good corrosion resistance and sealing. Specially designed internal chambers hold cell–scaffold composites or cartilage tissue-engineered constructs. Their design incorporates fluid-dynamic principles to distribute nutrients and gases uniformly throughout the culture environment.
  2. Control system: monitors and regulates internal environmental parameters such as temperature, pH, and dissolved-oxygen concentration. Precise control provides articular chondrocytes with stable, suitable growth conditions. The system can also adjust the intensity and frequency of mechanical stimulation according to experimental needs to simulate in vivo loading of articular cartilage.
  3. Operating system: includes the control interface for starting, running, and stopping the bioreactor and mechanisms for adding and removing biological material. Operators use it to set experimental parameters, monitor progress, and respond promptly to potential problems.
  4. Auxiliary systems: cleaning, disinfection, maintenance, and other systems ensure proper bioreactor operation and biological-product quality. The cleaning system periodically cleans the interior to prevent contamination; the disinfection system maintains sterility before and after use; and the maintenance system supports routine care and extends service life.
